The bear molds are very shallow making them difficult to remove without breaking. I have only used regular cake mix. It was suggested to me by my mother in law to use brownie mix for a sturdier bear. I haven't tried brownie mix but will. If the brownie bear were to work this pan would receive a stellar review.Wilton makes a 3D bear cake pan, and a mini cake pan. If you're interested in bears take a peek at those. I just used them for my 1yr olds 1st bday party...nothing but rave reviews here!!!

So small that the cakes look like little blobs when they're done. Takes alot of miniscule decorating to identify them as bears.
