Before anyone asks or suggests...YES, I used half fondant and half gumpaste. I even dusted the mold with corn starch and Crisco, only to get "just okay," results. If you're doing 20 flowers, I can almost guarantee that you might get about 10-15 of them that will look decent enough for presentation. When I say, "decent," I mean you'll get a whole flower, but with dents & dings from where you had to use a toothpick or some other object to get the flower out of the mold, because it sticks regardless of what you use. Now, one way to get the flowers out with no hassle, is to use more than the required amount of fondant/gumpaste. If you make it really thick, it comes out with no problem. However, the drawback to that is, you won't get that line/dot pattern in the flower. Same with the buttons; you have to make them thicker.I will modify my review as I practice more with this thing. I've used it a handful of times and each time I didn't get the book results. The more I use, the more I'll update.

I have this item from my class kit I purchased. I used 1/2 fondant, gum paste and the instructor of the class had us use shortening on the rolled fondant mixture, cut, remove flowers & button, put back in then press again (as hard as we could push on the counter/table) and then pull the items out again. It worked great. First time flowers were perfect. You do need to use a tool to start to get the flowers/buttons out but the back won't be seen anyways so a little pin prick was no big deal. This product made pretty and easy flowers.
