I must offer my disclaimer firsthand and state that I bought this for use with my kids, not because I'm all into cake decorating. A cake decorator might offer a completely different opinion. But, I bought these after seeing a project online where kids can "write" faces on marshmallows with different feelings as part of a discussion on emotions. They work great, and achieve the purpose well. I did notice a little of that weird taste you sometimes get with darker food coloring, so this is the reason for the 4 stars. It was overlooked by the kids, though, who found it to be quite the novelty to write on their food. I would recommend this highly for anyone working with the kids who would like to introduce something unique.

I used these markers on wafer paper for a spy-themed party and then again on a cake with regular icing. They do bleed a little bit, so you need to write and draw pretty large. It's not a lot of bleed, though, so you won't have to worry about not being able to read the words. You can't taste the ink at all.
