I finally bought this dough docker to see what it does. What it does is pop all the bubbles in the crust under the sauce -- so it compresses the very thin dough to support the toppings. This makes thin/strong dough so you can pick up a piece of pizza and it holds together. Works very good and I use it every time I make pizza.Because it's some kind of nylon/plastic material, it's easy to toss in the dishwasher for cleaning. Been using it now for two months and it seems to be a very good product.Could you do the same thing with a fork? Yes -- but it takes a long time to get this many bubbles popped. And to be honest, at this point in pizza making (i.e. adding sauce, seasoning, cheese, and toppings) I'm too busy to get it done correctly. With the dough docker, roll it over the crust once or twice and it's ready to top. Well worth the ten bucks.

Purchased for docking home pizzas, but also had in mind to use for docking convential pie dough.This item works fine, but its considerably larger than expected making it difficult for use on just about anything except a large pizza. The size makes it a little difficult to store.

It does the job but be carefull with it or you will lose some teeth. I have used mine about six times and already lost a few. For the price I paid, it will do for now.But If you are doing alot of dough work that needs a tool like this one.Step up to the metal type, more like real bakery style.
